Copper guttering favourably compared to other gutter materials by Professional Builder magazine.

An independent article in Professional Builder magazine for November 2010 has favourably compared copper guttering against cast iron, aluminium, zinc and PVCu for use as rainwater goods. While not all the benefits for using copper have been listed it clearly shows that copper will out last the other materials shown, lasting well over 100 years, more than 90 years longer than plastic and 40 years longer than its closest rival Zinc. Copper is 100% recyclable and one of the few metals that is classed as sustainable. Copper is also a wholly natural product and perfect for rainwater harvesting, so a great eco-friendly product too. Text reads: "Copper acts as an algaecide and fungicide, keeping growths such as moss and lichen to a minimum. It also mildly disinfects the water, making it excellent for rainwater harvesting.
